The Bamboo Sessions began with it's first show on 4th April 2007 in the Sugar Club, Dublin. The show is a solo songwriter showcase night with each act accompanied by a string quartet. New acts perform at each sessions and many musicians have been involved. We are always on the lookout for people who want to get involved.

There are five or six acts in each show and each act plays a solo set lasting about 20 minutes. The Bamboo Sessions happens roughly once every six months in Dublin.

The show was started by Aidan Murphy. He is also the musical director and string arranger for the show.

Jody Trehy is the shows technical director. He is himself a songwriter who performs at the sessions. He also writes musicals and is the founder of the Little Dark Star musical theatre company.
